5th National Seminar on BIOINFORMATICS, 2014 in SVIMS Bioinformatics Centre;

We extend our cordial invitation to attend DBT sponsored 5th National seminar on BIOINFORMATICS to be organized by SVIMS Bioinformatics Centre, SVIMS University, Tirupati from 14-15th February 2014. The main objective of the National conference is to bring together scientists, researchers, students from academia and corporate companies to share their informatics research experiences in the field of molecular modeling and drug design. Moreover, the participants will get opportunities to enlighten their bioinformatics skills to implement in their respective research field. Researchers will also be encouraged to present their research works.

Eligibility
Faculty, Students, Research Scholars working in the area of Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Computational Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, pharmacy and various other branches of Life Sciences are invited to attend the seminar.

Registration Fee
Rs. 600/- for students Rs. 1000/- for staffs;  Spot registration Rs. 1200/-;   The registration fee includes Seminar Kit, working lunch and tea for two days of the seminar. Participants are requested to send the registration form available in this brochure. Participants can also register Online. The registration fee should be paid by cash or in the form of crossed Demand Draft drawn in favor of the organizing secretary, National Seminar on Bioinformatics, BIF, SVIMS University, Tirupati, on or before 10th February, 2014. Registration form can also be photocopied.

Outstation candidates will be given accommodation upon prior request with nominal charges.

Best paper /poster presentation award will be given to students and scholars based on recommendations of a jury panel.

The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab. After the reorganization of the state, the administrative control of the institute passed on to the Union Territory of Chandigarh in November 1966. The Institute became an autonomous body under the Act of Parliament in 1967 functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Admissions: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at SVKM’s NMIMS

1. Programmes: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

2. Eligibility:
2.1. M. Pharm. (min. two years) with minimum 60% of marks.
or
M. Pharma (min. two years) with minimum 55 percentage / grade B at Masters Level & B. Pharma with minimum 60 percentage/grade A at Bachelor level.
2.2. Candidates appearing or awaiting for final year results are not eligible to apply.
2.3. Any qualifying bachelors/Master degree completed by distance or correspondence mode will not be eligible to apply.
2.4. Any qualifying Bachelors/Master degree completed by the candidate through Part time are eligible to apply
2.5. Candidates having experience in Pharma sector will be preferred.
2.6. Ph.D. Program is fulltime program. Attendance is mandatory as per prevailing rules of attendance for all the students, including Industry Sponsored students, admitted in Ph. D. program. During first year of the program, all students will have to complete Pre-Ph. D. course work. On successful completion of Pre-Ph.D. course work student will be registered for Ph. D.
2.7. Industry sponsored candidates are also eligible to apply provided they fulfill the requirements as per eligibility criteria and (point No. 2.6.) including NOC (No objection certificate) from the employer.

6. Selection Process:
1. NMIMS Entrance test.
Structure of test: (100 marks)
The admission test will comprise objective type questions based on:
1. Basics in Analysis/ Chemistry/ Microbiology
2. Basics in Pharm. sciences and Advanced industrial/ hospital/ community pharmacy applications
3. English proficiency

*Syllabus will be as per the B. Pharma courses

1. Duration : 90 minutes
2. All Questions are Compulsory & in multiple choice format
3. There is no negative marking
4. Use of Calculator is not allowed

2. Personal Interview:
50 marks (only for candidates shortlisted after written test) Presentation based on Statement of Purpose followed by Personal Interview

Note:
• During interviews, doctoral candidates are expected to discuss their research interest/area.
• Admission will be purely on merit as per candidate’s performance in Test and Personal Interview.
• Candidates those who have qualified in NET/SET/GATE/GPAT/JRF examination of the apex bodies in higher/technical professional education such as UGC, CSIR, ICMR or other equivalent examinations (for e.g. DST/DBT) and if the valid scores are within the validity period mentioned on the score card, such candidates are exempted from NMIMS entrance test. However they have to appear for Personal Interview
• No Candidate will be permitted to join the Programme unless he/ she submit the application along with SOP in time AND completes the selection process successfully.

7. Program Fees:
Program fees for 1st year Ph D (Batch-2013) were Rs.1, 00,000/- (For Information only). The Fees for Ph. D. (Batch-2014) will be informed during personal interview.

8. Refund rules:
The Schedule of refund of fees will be as follows:

1. Till the date of commencement of the Programme. Till 1st August 2014
Rs.1000/- will be deducted as administrative charges
2. Cancellation after the official closure of admission. After 1st August 2014
Cancellation made after the official closing of admission no fees will be refunded.

9. Important Instructions: 
1. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to check whether he/ she is eligible for the respective Program as per the eligibility criteria stated above.
2. If at any stage, it is found that a candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria or the information furnished by him/ her is incorrect, his/ her application for the admission to the Programme, even if selected and fees paid, will stand cancelled and fees will be forfeited.
