Cancelling of DSSB vacancies advertisement: HC asks Centre (That DSSB advertisement contain Pharmacist Job)

The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the Centre and the city government to respond to a PIL seeking quashing of an advertisement for jobs on the ground that seats have not been reserved for persons with disabilities including visually-impaired ones.

The court has sought responses from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), the Directorate of Education (DoE) and three municipal corporations of Delhi and fixed the case for further hearing on March 20.

DSSSB had on January, 20 come out with the advertisement for recruitment to various posts under Delhi government, three municipal corporations and New Delhi Municipal Council.

"The posts that covered in the above said advertisement included that of pharmacist, health inspector, statistical assistant, special education teacher, welfare officer, LDC, Stenographer, Special Educator Teacher, Assistant Teacher etc," the plea of NGO Score Foundation, filed through lawyer Pankaj Sinha, said.

Seeking quashing of the advertisement, the NGO, through its research officer Shabina Bano, said "the posts for the persons with disabilities especially with visual impairment have not been reserved."

Moreover, persons with disabilities were not able to fill up the form on line as the moment they reveal their status, the filled up forms are not accepted by DSSSB website, the lawyer said.

"Candidates with disabilities, especially with visual impairment, while applying for the above mention posts, to their dismay and astonishment, were not able to fill their respective details specifically in the disability category. And hence, majority of the applicants, especially with visual impairment, were being debarred from various posts while applying online in the DSSSB website," the plea said.
